Why Choose Chiropractic care?

Why Chiropractic

Many patients seek chiropractic care for:

  • sports injuries/performance
  • low back pain
  • sciatica
  • neck pain/whiplash
  • headaches/migraines
  • concussion
  • scoliosis/posture correction
  • pregnancy-related back pain

Dr. Andrea incorporates many chiropractic techniques customized individually for every patient.  These include Diversified (manual, hands-on), Thompson (drop-table), Activator (instrument), and myofascial (muscle) techniques.  In addition to spinal corrections, Dr. Andrea is experienced in all manner of extremity adjustments.

To determine the problem, each patient is evaluated with a complete history, posture analysis, range of motion studies, 2 computerized nerve system scans, and a palpatory examination prior to chiropractic treatment.  Digital foot scans are incorporated for those interested in custom orthotics.

    Chiropractic and Pregnancy

As a woman’s body changes with pregnancy, many develop back and joint pain, especially later in pregnancy as the belly increases in size.  Chiropractic is safe and comfortable for women in all stages of pregnancy.  Dr. Andrea incorporates three different sized pillows for the woman to lie on cradling the belly and allowing the use of the drop table to adjust safely and effectively as certified through the Academy of Chiropractic Family Practice and the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association.

Dr. Andrea is certified in the Webster Technique specific for pregnant women correcting the alignment of the sacrum and releasing of the round ligaments allowing for maximum space for the baby in utero promoting a safe and easy delivery.

    Chiropractic and Babies

Chiropractic care is safe and effective for babies, from newborns to toddlers and older.  As children grow and develop, both physically and neurologically, it is important to support them structurally and make those small changes to their spinal alignment restoring full functioning of the body and the affected spinal nerves.  Chiropractic care is very gentle and non-invasive for a baby.  There are very specific and specialized techniques used since babies are physically so different from adults.

Common reasons that parents bring their babies to see a pediatric chiropractor:

    • colic
    • difficulty breastfeeding/latching
    • reflux
    • constipation
    • uneven/difficulty crawling
    • torticollis/head tilt
    • scoliosis

For many babies, the birth process is quite traumatic.  Whether a vaginal birth or cesarean section, the delicate spine of the baby undergoes tremendous stress which increases the more complicated the birth is.  In addition, babies fall thousands of times as they learn to walk and play, so adjusting babies keeps them strong and healthy.

    Chiropractic and Athletes

Whether you are an elite athlete or a weekend warrior, chiropractic can improve your performance and keep you feeling good as you recreate.  Many athletes not only need spinal correction, but also extremity work including knees, ankles, shoulders, and wrists.  Think of chiropractic adjustments as greasing the chain on your bike…it makes for a smoother ride and prevents wear and tear later on down the road.

When Dr. Andrea lived in Texas, she was the team doctor for a woman’s professional full-contact football team for many years.  She currently cares for a local high school boy’s football team, and has helped many professional athletes from BC cup bobsleigh racers to Red Bull riders to other professional world champion bikers, skiers, and snowboarders.  And even a Canadian Olympic gold medallist!
